What inspired JDV23 theme?

Beyonce’s sparkling horse. It was lavish and embodied the very essence of the joie de vivre carnival social culture.

Yes, the theme was a nod to Bey’s Renaissance movement of 2022, but it was not a Beyonce themed party.

When I thought of “alien superstar” I envisioned a 70’s disco meets afro-futurism. Studio54 meets a trippy intergalactic rave. The disco era broke the mold when it came to fashion and music allowing freedom, creativity, and individuality to reign supreme. So my vision for JDV23 - high fashion aliens of the future.

Each year as the Creative Director, my goal is to make the experience better than the last by curating details that make the event feel more magical for each guest. This year, I decided to create a playlist for the ladies and encouraged them to play it while they got dressed for the celebration. The playlist has now become something special each year, but looking back it also serves as a musical snapshot in time.
