“Be my Galentine?!”
Year One. #JDV21

Will you be my “Galentine”?!
At the time my goal wasn’t to host an annual event or start a ladies social club. We were in the middle of a global “panini” and all I wanted to do was get dressed up and go out to eat at beautiful places with my friends.
So I dreamed up the concept of a Valentines x Mardi Gras ”social” and invited five ladies that I admired to join me in costume since the city was still on strict covid restrictions. The process of planning and constructing a costume was the perfect distraction for all of us and the event became something exciting to look forward to. Getting dressed in costume is so much more fun when everyone is on board with the vision. At the last minute, I decided to hire a photographer to capture us so we could enjoy being in the moment and not on our phones - best decision ever.
Finally the day arrived and as my guests starting arriving one by one we cheered as each of us turned the sidewalk into our own exclusive catwalk. Something about dressing in costume brought out a fierce alter ego in each of us. The magical energy of Mardi Gras filled the air and we knew at that moment that we had created something special for years to come.
Theme: n/a
Call to Action: Fashion meets wearable art
Bars visited: The Elysian Bar, Gianna, The Chloe
Mardi Gras was canceled but our costumes weren’t!
The weather was gloomy and frigid but our spirits were bright and our drinks were strong. We sipped champagne out of disco balls, set intentions for the year, shared words of affirmations, filled our stomachs with savory dishes and then laughed until our faces hurt. It was a day spent full of sisterhood and shenanigans.
