“Thriving in the wild”

Year Two. #JDV22

Friday February 25, 2022

WE OUTSIDE!!!

It was the city’s first Mardi Gras after the Mardi Gras 2021 season was canceled because of the pandemic. The joy of carnival permeated throughout the city.

Theme: “Thriving in the Wild”

Bars visited: The Elysian Bar, The Chapel Club, The Peacock Room

What inspired the theme?

The theme of our second annual celebration felt appropriate based on what we had all been through.

We were all slowly trying to find normalcy again and JDV22 did not disappoint, shit got WILD!

Each guest was encouraged to creatively express themselves based on their interpretation of the theme and then we celebrate each other while discussing our costume choices in person.

There were bottles of sparkling wine, barrels of tears from all the laughter and clouds of bubbles that followed us the entire day. We sashayed across town in our most creative wearable art with disco ball cups in our hands and our photographer in tow to three local bars. We enjoyed private spaces reserved only for our krewe. We ate an elevated lunch spread of tuna tartare, oysters, gulf shrimp, duck liver pate and an assortment of sparkling & natural wines. It was a joyous occasion spent with good company.

"Thriving in the Wild," provided an immersive experience where attendees expressed their creativity through bold, wearable art. This event fostered community building and networking among New Orleans' entrepreneurs, creatives, and community leaders. It was an opportunity to escape the demands of their busy lives and honor their inner child, embracing the child-like wonder of costume play and imagination.
